The Top 10 cities for 2022 have been announced by Euromonitor International, and this naturally raises the question on where Athens ranked, greekcitytimes.com reports.
Paris again claimed the title of the world’s best city in 2022, while Dubai is firmly in second place. They are followed by Amsterdam, Madrid, Rome, and London, which maintain their position at the top of the global ranking.
Finally, the top 10 is rounded off by Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, and New York, destinations whose photos from visitors flood social media all year round.
The top 10 rankings mostly see Europe top the destinations, with Dubai and New York the only cities challenging it.
Athens is in 23rd place, defying Abu Dhabi, neighboring Turkey, Venice, icy Zurich, and even exotic Miami, proving that tourists prefer the Greek air.
The strong recovery of international tourism is reflected in the percentage growth it is experiencing, rising up to 112% in 2022.
Lingering risks such as surging inflation and worsening economic conditions alongside the war in Ukraine are overshadowing the pace of recovery by the end of 2022.
