The new mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, was sworn into office on Thursday, alongside the members of the new municipal council, in a ceremony held at the Kypseli municipal market to symbolize the “municipality’s return to neighborhoods”, ANA reports.
He listed three conditions to ensure a new start for Greece’s capital, among them having a clean and environmentally-friendly city, a new administrative model where each councilor will be in charge of one particular duty, and establishing a new relationship between the municipality and the citizens, ensuring that they have a say in all decisions.
