Municipality of Athens on increased alert for the homeless ahead of low temperatures

The municipality of Athens was on heightened alert from Wednesday ahead of the low temperatures expected to prevail in the Greek capital, mobilising the services responsible for the protection of more vulnerable citizens and the homeless, ANA reports.
So, starting from Wednesday, the Reception and Solidarity Centre of the municipality of Athens activated its services while the Street Workgroups have started going around the city streets, offering hot tea, raisins, rusks, clothes, and blankets. These groups will also assist citizens with impaired mobility to get to the municipal Homeless Shelter, which offers beds, food, and other needs of homeless people.
Specifically, the homeless can sleep at the dormitory of the Centre at Acharnon and Liossion streets, while the phone center (2105246515-6) will be open until 23:00 to receive calls from citizens about homeless people in need of help, to send the Street Workgroups.
