Mayors of Athens and Rome discuss city challenges and cooperation

The Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas met with the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, at the Palazzo Senatorio. The two mayors discussed the common challenges their cities face, emphasizing the need for new tools to boost their resilience, ANA reports.

During the meeting, they focused on everyday issues, the measures they are taking for citizens’ energy security through the creation of energy communities as well as the planting of new trees. At the same time, they discussed major infrastructure projects underway in the two capitals, such as the construction of the new AS Roma stadium and the double regeneration project including the new Panathinaikos FC stadium in the Votanikos neighborhood in Athens.

They agreed to conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation between Athens and Rome focusing on climate change, culture, and sustainable tourism.
