Mayor of Athens takes part in European cities meeting in Warsaw

The Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas, visited Warsaw, where he discussed with his counterparts from all over  Europe the strengthening of the role of cities in the management of European funds, ANA reports.

In the framework of the 14th Dialogue between European Capital Mayors and the European Commission, 23 cities signed a Declaration on safe, resilient, and prepared European urban areas in times of crisis.

“Athens is being transformed to address directly and effectively all the challenges that today’s modern megacities face, from over-tourism and the climate crisis to social inclusion. Cities with a human face are a key demand of our time,” Doukas said, adding: “Such a governance proposal is not only aimed at ensuring social peace but also at finding common solutions to contemporary problems. This commitment is a compass for us to continue to implement our program.”
