With the aim of extending the tourist season, the municipality of Kalamata approved approximately 200,000 euros to strengthen the international image of the destination, which will consequently increase tourist flows to the Peloponnese destination, as the municipality’s tourism committee hopes.
The municipality of Kalamata’s weapons for achieving the above goal are the promotion of the cultural and gastronomic portfolio of the region, as well as the promotion of its alternative forms, which the geographical relief of the region generously offers to the visitor.
At the same time, cooperation with private sector bodies should be considered certain since the goal of shaping a multidimensional destination cannot exclude private initiative in this effort.
Kalamata honored city at exhibition in Lugano
In the near future, the municipality of Kalamata will be honored city at an exhibition in Lugano, Switzerland, where the new tourist identity of the destination will be presented, but also the Peloponnese Region in general will be promoted. Let us recall that 155 thousand international passengers arrived at Kalamata airport in 2024, recording a 20% increase compared to the previous year.
