The Greek capital was crowned the worlds top City Break destination for 2025, while Greek hotels and tourism groups collected a total of 11 additional global awards at this years glamorous World Travel Awards ceremony in Bahrain.
Two global distinctions for Athens as well as 11 others for Greek hotels and businesses in Greek tourism marked this years 32nd edition of the industrys Oscars, the World Travel Awards, held on Saturday, 6 December, in Bahrain as part of the gala ceremony for the 2025 Grand Final.

The official event marked the culmination of the WTA Grand Tour 2025, the global search for the best travel and tourism organizations, with regional ceremonies held in Tanzania, Cancun (Mexico), Saint Lucia, Hong Kong, Sardinia (Italy) and Dubai.
Athens was awarded as the worlds best City Break destination for 2025 (Worlds Leading City Break Destination 2025), as well as the best cultural city destination (Worlds Leading Cultural City Destination 2025).
Multiple distinctions were awarded to the Sani/Ikos group. Specifically, Ikos Resorts won the award for the worlds best luxury all-inclusive resort brand (Worlds Leading Luxury All-Inclusive Resort Brand 2025) as well as the worlds best luxury green all-inclusive resort brand (Worlds Leading Luxury Green All-Inclusive Resort Brand 2025).
Sani Resort received global distinctions as the worlds best family and beach resort (Worlds Leading Family and Beach Resort 2025), the worlds best cultural destination resort (Worlds Leading Cultural Destination Resort 2025) and the worlds best luxury green resort (Worlds Leading Luxury Green Resort 2025).
Additionally, Domes Resorts was awarded as the worlds best resort brand for 2025 (Worlds Leading Resort Brand 2025). The award for the worlds best adults-only boutique hotel was given to Domes Noruz Mykonos (Worlds Leading Adult-Only Boutique Hotel 2025). Domes Zeen Chania, a Luxury Collection Resort, received the distinction of the worlds best leisure resort (Worlds Leading Leisure Resort 2025), while Domes of Elounda, Autograph Collection, was recognized as the worlds best luxury family resort for 2025 (Worlds Leading Luxury Family Resort 2025).
Porto Zante Villas and Spa was named the worlds best boutique villa resort (Worlds Leading Boutique Villa Resort 2025).
Finally, Mideast Travel Worldwide won the award for the worlds best Destination Management Company.
