On Tuesday, November 24, at 19.00, the mayor of Athens, Giorgos Kaminis will give the signal in Syntagma Square for the official illumination of the city during Christmas and New Year holiday season. The sound of music will echo through the capital’s center from 17.30, as two parts of the Athens Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra will march simultaneously from National Resistance square of National Resistance (former Kotzia square) and the Monastiraki Metro station, to converge in Syntagma Square and welcome the public, by creating a festive atmosphere. At 19.00, the Athens Municipality Big Band along with Sakis Rouvas in a special appearance and repertoire adapted to the spirit of the season, will accompany with Christmas melodies the official illumination of the city and its Christmas Tree in Syntagma square. It will involve The New Smyrna High School children’s choir will also participate under the guidance of Katerina Vasilakou.
