The decision for Rhodes to participate in the Travel Turkey 2015 fair to be held in Smyrna from 10 to 13 December, was reached unanimously at the meeting between the city’s mayor Fotis Hatzidiakos and representatives of the island’s market institutions.
As it became clear, Rhodes is to benefit greatly from this participation, given the interest of the Turkish market for the island, which was confirmed during the trip, made some days ago by Mr. Hatzidiakos to Izmir, after being invited by the city’s mayor.
Gastronomy night
Furthermore, the mayor tabled the proposal of Greece’s General Consul in Smyrna Theodoros Tsakiris for organizing a Rhodes Gastronomy Night which was unanimously accepted and is to be prepares by Rhodes restaurateurs in collaboration with the local Association of Chefs.
As the mayor underlined, “Our goal is to bring tourists from a city four million inhabitants, some of which derive their origin from Rhodes, a factor to be exploited as well.”
