This year’s Greek Estia Festival in Hobart, Tasmania, was one of the busiest in the celebration’s 23-year history according to au.greekreporter.com.
Thousands of attendees, welcomed the festival for yet another year, to enjoy the richness of the Greek culture through food, traditional dancing and singing, and, naturally, plate smashing.
The Festival’s co-chair Irini Kalis noted that “Estia was a celebration of Greek culture which revolved around family.” Kalis also said that it is a way to “get a little bit of a peek into our backyard.”
The official Greek population in Tasmania is at least 3,000 people, but there are estimates that it reaches as high as 5,000.
