Many Greeks attended the Greek Independence Day parade that took place in Montreal, Canada. Despite the cold, the students of Greek schools and members of Greek associations marched with great excitement and pride at Jean Talon avenue which was full of Greek flags.
Trudeau was back in his riding of Papineau to walk in the parade, alongside Quebec’s Immigration Minister, Kathleen Weil and Public Security Minister, Martin Coiteux.
The popular Prime Minister, holding a Greek flag, greeted as many people as he could wishing everyone “Xronia Polla”.
For over 40 years, the Hellenic Community of Montreal has been holding events to celebrate the end of Ottoman rule in Greece.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the parade, too, and posted a very touching message for Greece on his Twitter account.
“Zito Helles! Great to be in Papineau today for Montreal’s Greek Independence Day Parade”.
