More than 300 entries in 3rd Tweed Run on Spetses

More than 300 cyclists with tweed era outfits, completed the third Tweed Run in Spetses, organized by the Poseidonion Grand Hotel in collaboration with the Bicycle Museum.

The most special bike ride of a bygone era followed the standards of London, Tokyo and New York Tweed Runs!

The most “elegant” cycling race advocated the style and elegance of a bygone era, could not be held in any place other than Spetses, the cosmopolitan island without cars, bathed in the charm and elegance befitting this event. The Poseidonion Grand Hotel, the iconic hotel takes the organizer’s role, perfectly in line with the aesthetics and spirit that represents the particular institution.

The participants dress up in their finest clothes, slow down the speed and enjoy the ride, compete with each other for the best vintage outfit, relax with aromatic tea and bask in the beauty of the countryside with authentic picnics. With tweed fabrics on the spotlight, vintage plus fours, suits, woolen jerseys, coats, cycling skirts and perhaps a sporty cycling cape for the ladies, and accessories like bowties, scarves, cravats, suspenders and tweed caps, are all encouraged, as at the end of the ride, the Best Dressed Man and Best Dressed Woman are awarded.

Furthermore, the “vintage-lovers” have the chance to claim the “Best Vintage Bicycle” Award. Those that don’t own a vintage bicycle but feel quite vintage inside, can décor their bike and enter the competition for the“Best Decorated Bicycle”.
