Yesterday in Smixi of Grevena, Greece, one of the toughest races in the world, Bike Odyssey 2016 kicked off for the 4th consecutive year.
Dozens of athletes got a first taste of a tough mountain bike experience on Pindos mountain range.
All teams passed from the 1st check point at the 35th km of the route. A flat tire to the team «Old Cranks» of Konstantinidis-Papadopoulos gave the opportunity to «Electric Rev by Helma» team to get ahead. The differences between the first teams remain small.

Gps files refers to both 8-day and the 3-day race,as much as the 1-day races, Smixi Mtb Race and 1-Day Bike Odyssey.
Volunteer Search and Rescue Team ( Ε.Ο.Ε.D) of Mesolongi will provide health cover for the 4th consecutive year to the race “BIKE ODYSSEY 2016“ at 19-26 June.
E.O.E.D. deals with civils protection and specifically in assistance in case of emergency , as earthquakes, exclusion ( snow, floods etc) mass destruction or accidents as well the sector of research and rescue.
It will participate with a group of 15 to 20 rescuers, who will be scattered throughout the route of each stage especially in dangerous places, and will be there to supervise athletes and intervene offering their services if is needed.
This year’s race has changed the altitude differences and mileage of each stage, to totally reach a distance of 620,53 km and positive altitude differences of 19.534 m.
