It was a good day for Greek sports on Tuesday as both men’s and women’s rowing teams made it through to their respective finals in Rio’s Olympic Games. First, it was Anastasia Asoumanaki and Katerina Nikolaidou who advanced to the finals of the women’s double sculls, after qualifying first in the semi-final race with a time of 6:51:99.
The team will claim a second Olympic medal for women’s rowing after the bronze won by Christina Yiazitzidou and Alexandra Tsiavou in the women’s lightweight double sculls in London’s Olympics.
Shortly after them, Stefanos Douskos, Spyros Giannaros, Yiannis Petrou and Panagiotis Magdanis finished third place in men’s lightweight four. The team was competing at the second semi-final and achieved a time of 6:23:95. Both finals are scheduled for Thursday (August 11), at 16:10 (Brazil time) and 16:44 respectively.
