Korakaki wins first gold for Greece in 25m air pistol at Rio 2016 Olympics

Anna Korakaki has won the first gold medal for Greece in the Rio 2016 Olynpics, after winning in the 25m pistol final against German Monika Karsch.

The 20-year-old girl becomes only the second athlete for Greece in the modern Olympic games to win two medals in the same Games after Konstantinos Tsiklitiras won 2 medals in 1908!

Korakaki won the first three rounds against her opponent giving her a 6-0 lead, but Karsch won the next three rounds making the score 6-6. In the final round of 5 shots Korakaki beat her opponent on the last shot.

Earlier, she had clinched the bronze medal at the 10m air pistol final and the first for Greece in the Olympic shooting competition since 1920 when the Greek national team won the silver medal in Antwerp.
