Central Athens begins street shutdown for 35th Marathon on Sunday

Athens and the main road from the ancient site of Marathon will be closed down on Sunday for the 35th Authentic Marathon of Athens and other races on its sidelines.

Streets in downtown Athens will start shutdowns earlier, some from midnight on Friday and continuing gradually through Saturday afternoon.

In addition to the authentic Marathon race, there will be shorter runs in a loop between Syntagma Square and the Panathenian Stadium (3km, 5km, 10km and 1,200 organized by Special Olympics Hellas), and races especially for children organized by local towns along the race route.
