The 33rd international tourism exhibition Philoxenia concluded at Greece’s Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) premises on Sunday.
It has been established as a major communication platform in the field of tourism, the president of TIF-Helexpo Anastasios Tzikas said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station, Praktoreio 104.9 FM.
The two exhibitions, Philoxenia and Hotelia, attracted a total of more than 20,000 visitors.
Over 4,000 meetings took place between exhibitors and major tour operators from 36 countries during the three-day event with the participation of 36 countries.
The exhibitions were organized under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry, the Interior Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organisation as well as all the major tourist agencies in Greece.
The foreign presence was upgraded this year with participations from Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Austria, Russia, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Poland, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Peru, Philippines and Indonesia. Furthermore, 180 independent hosted buyers were also invited, while another 125 participate as group missions from Bulgaria, Albania and Skopje.
