Traffic restrictions in Athens city center for Half Marathon on Sunday

The Greek traffic police on Friday announced that traffic measures will be imposed along the route of the Athens Half Marathon taking place in the city centre this Sunday, as well as adjoining roads, ANA reports.

The race will take place between 9:00 and 12:20 on Sunday morning, starting on Amalias Avenue between Parliament and Syntagma Square and following a route though the main roads of the city centre up to Alexandras Avenue before eventually returning to Syntagma Square for the finish.

Most of the main roads in the city centre will be closed to vehicle traffic, including bicycles between 7:00 and 13:30, while sections of Amalias Avenue will be closed from 5:00 until 14:00. Private vehicles will also be barred from traversing roads along the route of the race except at the following, monitored junctions:

  • Alexandras Avenue – Ippokratous Street
  • Alexandras Avenue – Harilaou Trikoupi Street
  • Patission Street – Kodrigktonos Street
  • Patission Street – Stournara Street
  • Vassilisis Sofias Avenue – Irodou Attikou (only fire brigade vehicles)
  • Vassilisis Sofias Avenue – Papadiamantopoulou Street
  • Vassilisis Sofias Avenue – Kokkali Street
  • Vassilisis Sofias Avenue – Rigillis Street (only fire brigade vehicles and ambulances)
  • Vasileos Konstantinou – Rizari Street
  • Vasileos Konstantinou – Vasileos Georgiou
  • Vasileos Konstantinou – Vassilisis Sofias Avenue
