Candle Rally for Greece’s fire victims to take place on Syntagma Square in Athens

Greeks are expected to gather outside the Parliament in Athens to light candles in memory of those who lost their lives, on Monday.

The silent gathering is being organized via social media by ex-basketball player Yiannis Gagaloudis.

He calls on people to gather with candles at central Syntagma Square at 9 p.m. to “illuminate the sky and the souls of our fellow human beings who have lost their lives.”

At least 91 people were killed in the coastal resort of Mati, which is situated 30 kilometres (17 miles) east of Athens.

A total of 25 people are still missing and 28 bodies have yet to be identified, the fire brigade announced on Sunday.
