The Hellenic Initiative’s 6th Annual Gala in New York raises 2 million dollars

On Friday September 21, The Hellenic Initiative (THI) held their 6th Annual Gala in New York City, greekcitytimes.com reports:

It truely was a night to remember with more than 750 guests participating and a total of 2 million dollars raised. The funds raised will be invested in entrepreneurial programs and economic development opportunities in Greece and also will provide crisis relief for underserved communities in Greece, particularly for children.

The Gala is the biggest and most successful Greek Diaspora fundraising event, which is attended by Greeks from the U.S., Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia.

This year’s Gala also honoured two distinguished individuals and their respective organizations committed to supporting the well-being of Greece and Greeks: Mrs. Corrine Mentzelopoulos, philanthropist and owner of Chateau Margaux along with Mr. Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever and THI’s Regeneration Program partner.

The Master of Ceremonies for the event was actor Chris Diamantopoulos, who is known for playing Russ Hanneman in ‘Silicon Valley’, and is also the voice of Disney’s Mickey Mouse.
