European Heritage Days events in Attica cancelled due to bad weather

A series of events planned by the Athens Antiquities Ephorate on September 28-30 to mark European Heritage Days have been cancelled due to the storm system that is expected to reach Greece this weekend, ANA reports.

Also cancelled are activities and events planned by other Attica antiquities ephorates at the archaeological sites in Ramnous, the temple of Artemis in Loutsa, the Vravrona and Lavrio museums, the Megara Archaeological Museum and the Acharnes Archaeological Collection.

According to the culture ministry, the events will be moved to a new dates that will be announced shortly.

The events cancelled in Athens include:

  • 1. Tour and theatrical performance at the Kerameikos archaeological site (Friday, 17:30-19:00)
  • 2. The National Opera theatrical group’s rendition of Sophocles’ ancient tragedy “Trachiniae” on Filopappou Hill (Friday, 18:00-20:00)
  • 3. A performance of Aeschylus’ ancient drama “Prometheus” by the Orama theatre group at the Socrates’ Prison in the Filopappou archaeological site (Saturday, 20:00-21:30)
  • 4. The Pol(e)is digital productions at the Lyceum archaeological site (Sunday, 20:00-21:30)
  • 5. Founding myths of Athens at the Ancient Agora Museum (Sunday, 17:00-19:00)
  • 6. “Athens in the time of Hadrian” archaeological walk, starting in the Roman Agora (Saturday, 10:30-12:30)
  • 7. The Benizeloi Mansion in the City of Athens tours on Sunday at 11:00
  • 8. “The astronomical nature of the Horologion of Andronikos Kyrrhestes – a modern approach with digital media” at the Tower of the Winds (Friday, Saturday 19:30-21:00)
