Iconic Greece’s Evzones are honored in a photography exhibition currently on display in the Polish capital of Warsaw, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the formation of the Presidential Guard.
North Events and the Association of Greek Entrepreneurs of Poland “Hermes” are the organizers of the exhibition, which features the work of photographer Dimitra Hatziadam, titled “Evzones / Guardians of the Unseen.” The exhibition takes place at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.
The show marks the milestone of 100 years of diplomatic relations between Greece and Poland, as well as the completion of 150 years since the establishment of the Greek Presidential Guard. The exhibition is being organized under the auspices of the Greek Embassy in Poland.
In her photography, Hatziadam captures the unique uniform of the Evzones, laden with folklore symbolism. She also attempts to capture the Greek Orthodox character of the members of the Presidential Guard, their difficult training, and the ideals they stand for. The Evzones appear as pillars of military virtue and morality.
The photographic collection is complemented by testimonies from evzones along with audio documentary.
