Athens celebrated the October 28 national holiday on Sunday with a school parade held in the city centre, with the participation of all central Athens schools, in addition to the police marching band, the Corfu marching band, the Special Olympics team and the Greek Scouts, ANA reports.
During the parade, a man and a woman dressed in traditional costumes and holding flags, one of them with the Vergina Sun, slipped in among the parading schools and also participated in the parade, stopping in front of the stand for the officials and shouting slogans.
Before the parade, wreaths were laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Greek Parliament by the political, state and military leadership, the national anthem was played and Education Minister Costas Gavroglou inspected a military honour guard.
