Xenia 2018: Large crowds at Digi Hotel event

Xenia Digi Hotel, one of the main events of the largest trade show for the hospitality industry in Greece, taking place at a specially-designated area in Hall 3 of the Metropolitan Expo exhibition center, showcases the latest international trends, while educating and informing hoteliers on everything they need to know about today’s digital world.

At the first discussion panel, participated Ms Dorothea Dede (Backbone) and Mr Kyros Asfis (Nea Mesa), while the talk was moderated by Mr Dimitris Serifis (Nelios). The speakers “mapped” all the modern tools that a hotel must have in order to cope with the digital age. Thereafter, Ms Dede highlighted issues regarding a hotel’s good internet presence. The value and importance of the blog on a hotel site, as an optimal selling tool, discussd Mr Kyros Asfis from NeaMesa. In addition, Irini Tzirvelaki (Electra Hotels & Resorts) referred to the Mobile App as the “customers’ personal butler.”

How hotel analytics can help businesses better understand their customers was the topic analyzed by Ms Eleni Liogka (Mitsis Hotels), while Mr Nikolas Zartaloudis (City Never Sleeps) referred to Google My Business as a hotelier’s free SEO ally. At the end of the first section, hotel Du Lac in Ioannina was presented as a case study.

Comprehensive presentations from leading experts at the second section of the event

The second section of the day was entitles “Hotel Digital Marketing & Advertising” and was presented by Mr Themis Sarantaenas, Marketing Consultant, and Mr Konstantinos Androutsos, Digital Strategist & Analyst.

The second section, which highlighted hotel digital marketing and advertising, was moderated by Mr Apostolis Aivalis of aival.com. Speakers analyzed the peculiarities of the hotel market, the costs and all good practices. In this particular section, Google search Ads were also discussed by Digital Strategist, Mr Alexandros Rasoulis. In addition, Panos Melissaropoulos (Moosend) elaborated on the topic of GDPR and how it can make Email Marketing more efficient.

How a hotel can effectively target customers by using social media advertising platforms to its benefit, was presented by Mr Christos Ditoras of Hilton Athens, whereas Mr Kostas Fronimos talked about the future of digital advertising. Ms Eleni Stasinopoulou (The Hotel Trotter) elaborated on the subject of travel bloggers and influencers, and Vassilis Dimarakis (Private Review) raised the subject of customer reviews. The very first day of the Xenia Digi Hotel ended with the case study of Kalisti Hotel in Santorini.
