Internationally famed Greek dancer at Thessaloniki’s Vassiliko Theater (video)

The National Theater of Northern Greece continues for the third weekend, its program titled “Greeks of the World”, which includes a series featuring tributes and talks by Greek artists from different disciplines who excel abroad, int.ert.gr reports.

On December 15 and 16, Daphne Kokkinos, a graduate of the Greek National School of Dance and the only Greek dancer at Pina Bausch’s Wuppertal Dance Theater, will give a talk and a masterclass for professional dancers at the Vassiliko theater in the city of Thessaloniki.

Daphne Kokkinos was born in Heraklion, Crete. He commenced his studies in dance and theater at the Youth Theater of the Hellenic American Union, and received his diploma from the Greek National School of Dance.

In 1993 he joined the Pina Bausch’s Wuppertal Dance Theater and in 2002 he became Pina Bausch’s assistant until the iconic choreographer’s death in 2009. His first solo work named Addio Addio Αmore is dedicated to her.

Daphne Kokkinos travels the planet teaching dance workshops in Greece, Turkey, Korea, Italy, Sweden, Chile. His last work is the Lamento choreography with the National Opera School.
