The 2019 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF) ended its run on Sunday, June 9, with the Orpheus Awards ceremony, according to greekreporter.com.
“Her Job”, directed by Nikos Labot, was the film selected to close out the festival. The screening was followed by a short Q&A with director Labot, who was on hand to talk about the inspiration for his film as well as the process of casting and developing it.
Shortly after, the Orpheus Awards ceremony began. Casting director Valorie Massalas received an honorary Orpheus Award for her excellent work in the world of casting for the last few decades.
The hosts for the night were Patricia Kara and Elena Evangelo. Presenters included Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, Panos Vlahos, Ioanna Triantafyllidou, George Chakiris, James Axiotis, Bobby Roth, Sunil Sadarangani, and David Streit.

- Best Performance: Marisha Triantafyllidou for “Her Job”
- Audience Award for Feature Film: “1/2 New Year” by Tom Morash
- Audience Award for Documentary: “Obscurro Barroco” by Evangelia Kranioti
- Audience Award for Short Film: “Flickering Souls Set Alight” by Iakovos Panagopoulos
The awards ceremony was followed by a wonderful reception with traditional Greek dishes, wine from the Greek islands, and a musical trio playing classic Greek hits.
