Greek Energy Minister in Egypt for Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum

Greek Energy & Environment Minister Kostis Chatzidakis was welcomed to Egypt by Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla on Wednesday morning, according to ANA,

Speaking of Greece’s strategic relations with Egypt, Chatzidakis said that he elected this country to be the first he visits as minister. “Egypt is not just a neighboring country to Greece, it is a strategic partner of Greece. This visit underlines the importance of the region’s countries all collaborating on issues of energy.”

Besides the two countries, the forum includes Cyprus, Israel, Italy, and Jordan and is expected to be attended by US Energy Secretary Rick Perry.
