Hellenic Society of Constantinople to organize Annual Gala in LA

The Hellenic Society of Constantinople, headquartered in Los Angeles, is gearing up for its annual dinner dance, to be held on Saturday, February 22, according to greekreporter.com.

Organizers are promising an entertaining night of live Greek music, along with dancing, drinks, and a celebratory meal in the Constantinopolitan style.

The event will be held at the St. Sophia Cathedral, 1324 Normandie Ave, Los Angeles. For more information email upstagecateringkp@gmail.com or check the society’s Facebook page here.

The society will honor Philippos Trevezas and The Hellenic Library of Southern California at the annual event. All proceeds from the gala dinner will benefit the philanthropic institutions of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

The Hellenic Society of Constantinople was established in 1939 to preserve and perpetuate the enormous contributions made by the Byzantines, and to support charitable contributions to needy churches and nursing homes in Constantinople.

The Society also offers scholarships to students of Greek descent based on merit, and donates to worthy philanthropic causes in the United States.

It also sponsors the annual Commemoration of the Fall of Constantinople, which is organized in early January each year.
