Stefania Liberakakis to represent Greece with “Last Dance” at Eurovision 2021 contest

Stefania Liberakakis, who saw her Eurovision dream dashed last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will return to represent Greece in the song contest this year with a brand-new song, greekcitytimes.com reports.

Eurovision 2021 will take place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in May.

Her entry for the upcoming competition, entitled ‘Last Dance’ will be released in March.

Based on sources, the track has a positive, hopeful message.

“I fell in love with the melody of this song from the first moment I listened to it. I can’t wait to fly to Athens and record the final version, so you all can hear it soon!!” Stefania noted on social media.

‘Last Dance’ is a song created by composer group Arcade together with well-known Eurovision veteran Dimitris Kontopoulos, who composed Stefania’s 2020 entry ‘SUPERG!RL’.  The lyrics are written by Sharon Vaughn.

Last year the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the contest for the first time in its 64-year history. But instead of canceling it altogether, the song contest decided to air a live two-hour special, Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light.

Stefania Liberakakis, 18, was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, to a Greek family. She rose to fame in 2014 when she competed in The Voice Kids (the Netherlands), where she reached the Battle round.

She is no stranger to the Eurovision scene, as she represented the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as part of the group ‘Kisses’, where they finished in 8th place.

In 2018, the young singer released her first solo single ‘Stupid Reasons’.

At the 2019 MAD Video Music Awards, she performed ‘Con Calma’ alongside Konnie Metaxa and Ilenia Williams.
