Greece marks Clean Monday traditionally with no let up in lockdown

The Clean Monday holiday marking the beginning of Orthodox Lent was celebrated in conditions of tight lockdown in Greece on Monday, with even traditional kite-flying subject to the movement restrictions, according to ANA.
Deputy Civil Protection and Crisis Management Minister Nikos Hardalias made clear that there will be no relaxation of lockdown rules during the holiday, including for the traditional picnics and kite-flying expeditions normally held on the day, while all shopping trips were confined to shops in the same municipality or within a distance of two kilometers of each person’s residence.
