AHEPA Chapter 455 in West Nyack held its first Hellenic Cultural and Educational Series event on March 20 at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. The topic was the Greek War of Independence with Vassilios Chrissochos’ presentation titled 1821: The Liberation of Greece.
Mr. Chrissochos is a historical consultant who has given many presentations on various Hellenic-themed subjects such as Byzantium’s Macedonian Dynasty, The Historical Significance of OXI Day and has also produced Porphyra’s Anna and Vladimir, a rock opera which debuted at Carnegie Hall and was performed Off-Broadway, among other venues. Chrissochos is also the AHEPA District 6 Director of Hellenism and President of Hermes Chapter 186 in Astoria, NY.

This was a great opportunity for adults and children to watch this multimedia presentation on one of the most exciting chapters in Hellenic history. What better way to pass on our Hellenic history and pride to the next generation of Hellenes and Philhellenes the week before Greek Independence Day.
