Gold Coast AHEPA Chapter 456 held its 31st Annual ‘The Andy Cyprus’ Golf Open at The Village Club of Sands Point on October 2. The event was well-attended with over 90 golfers. Proceeds will be donated to various charities throughout Long Island and New York City.
Examples of the chapter’s charities include, among others: AHEPA Service Dogs for Warriors, American Friends of the Blind in Greece, Holiday Spirit (Christmas Dinners for the Needy), Agape Meals for Kids, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center (ADRC), City Harvest, Homes for Special Needs Adults, fire relief in Greece and Hawaii, and College Scholarships.
Several dignitaries were in attendance including AHEPA District 6 Governor Peter Ragoussis, Marshal Nick Calogredes, Warden Anastasi Stampolis, and Past District 6 Governor Dean Moskos. Golfers and friends attended the banquet and were treated to a delicious dinner. The outing received tremendous support from various local businesses and Ahepans with many sponsorships and donations. The Golf Committee has already begun planning for the 2024 golf outing. The chapter expressed special thanks to Mario Harris, who took over the chairmanship, and past chair Chris Pappas as they worked together in the spirit of AHEPA brotherhood.
