The Federation of Dodecanese Societies held an Artoklasia and the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita on January 14 following the Divine Liturgy at St. Catherine and St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Astoria. Fr. Anargyros Stavropoulos, the Dean of St. Demetrios Cathedral in Astoria, presided over the services with Fr. Gedeon Varytimos, Assistant Priest of the community.
Dodecanese Federation President Maria Marangos wished everyone a happy and healthy new year at the vasilopita cutting event after everyone had joined in the singing of the traditional kalanta on the islands.
Fr. Stavropoulos also wished everyone in attendance all the best for the new year and continued success in their endeavors.
