Athens, renowned for its innovative music scene, is coming to the heart of Chicago’s Greektown with Building Bridges to Greece, an exciting concert featuring four brand new works by modern Greek-American and Greek composers at the National Hellenic Museum, 333 South Halsted Street, on Sunday, January 28, 3 PM.
A unique collaboration between Building Bridges and the National Hellenic Museum will present the premiere of solo bassoon works by esteemed Greek composers: Niki Harlafti (Chicago, IL), Konstantinos Baras (Chicago, IL), Stratis Minakakis (Boston, MA), and Michalis Paraskakis (Athens, Greece).
This event celebrates contemporary Greek classical music and the vibrancy of Greek culture today. The concert promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of innovation and creativity.
About Building Bridges
Building Bridges is a collaborative initiative led by American bassoonist Ben Roidl-Ward, Assistant Professor of Bassoon at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Greek composer Niki Harlafti, Ph.D. in Composition and Music Technology, Northwestern University. Their mission is to commission, perform, promote, and document new works for bassoon by Greek composers, fostering connections and education among diverse audiences.
