The Municipality of Kantanos-Selinou is actively participating in the Reisen Hamburg 2025 tourism and experience exhibition, which opened its gates yesterday in Hamburg, Germany, and will last until February 9. The Municipality’s presence is carried out through the pavilion of the Region of Crete, enhancing the overall visibility of the island in the German market.
Reisen Hamburg is one of the most important tourism exhibitions in Germany, bringing together tourism professionals and travelers looking for new destinations and authentic experiences. The Municipality of Kantanos-Selinou, aiming to expand its presence in the German market, is promoting the rich natural, cultural, and gastronomic tourism of the region, highlighting the unique experiences it can offer visitors.
The Municipality is represented by the Tourism Advisor, Mr. Stelios Kalogridis, who leads the mission with the aim of promoting the possibilities of alternative tourism offered by the region.
In October 2024, heroic Kandanos found itself at the center of global news, when the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, attended a memorial event for the victims of Nazi Germany in the martyred Kandanos of Chania. After apologizing for the Nazi crimes on the island, he stated that “the barbarity and inhumanity of the German occupiers still takes his breath away today.”
