Crete is recording double-digit booking rates for almost all tour operators in Germany, as was established by the Region’s participation in the ITB International Tourism Fair in Berlin.
Specifically, the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism, Dr. Kyriakos Kotsoglou (in the photo below with the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni), stated:
“Berlin has given Crete double-digit growth rates for 2025, a fact that excites us. It is the largest tourism fair in the world, the one that sets the pace for the season, characterized as one of the tourism exchanges. for us it remains one of the (36), perhaps the most important, promotional actions for Crete, Everywhere!!”
As part of the exhibition, the delegation of the Region of Crete held business meetings with leading tour operators, airlines, and travel agents, further strengthening Crete’s position as a leading tourist destination.
The Region’s pavilion was a magnet for visitors to the exhibition, offering authentic Cretan treats and showcasing the island’s rich gastronomic tradition, an element that constitutes a significant competitive advantage of the destination.
The Region of Crete was represented by the Deputy Governor for Tourism Kyriakos Kotsoglou, the Regional Advisor for Tourism in the Regional Unit of Lassithi Michael Klontzas, the Head of the Tourism Directorate of the Region of Crete Nikolaos Alexakis, the Head of the Tourism Department of the Regional Unit of Lassithi Maria Lavdaki and the Head of the Planning and Development Department of the Region of Crete Olga Milioni.
Michael Klontzas stated:
“Our presence at ITB Berlin 2025 is a strategic investment to strengthen the international competitiveness of Crete. The contacts we made with leading players in the tourism industry are expected to bring significant benefits to the island’s economy, attracting high-value visitors and contributing to the extension of the tourist season. We remain committed to our vision of a sustainable, competitive and resilient tourism destination that offers authentic experiences to its visitors, 365 days a year.”
