Olga Kefalogianni at the Cannes Film Festival

Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni led the Greek delegation to the 77th Cannes International Film Festival, inaugurating the national pavilion at the Marché du Film. In her contacts with industry representatives, she highlighted the existing investment incentives (cash rebate of 40%) and the fast-track filming licensing process, with the aim of attracting international producers and developing forms of “cinema tourism”. At the Greek pavilion, top executives from the film industry and European organizations discussed the potential of Greek cinema and the strengthening of tourism through art.

Among other things, the meeting with the Deputy Director General of the Cannes Film Festival, Christian Jeune, and the Artistic Director of La Cinef, Dimitra Karya, highlighted the increased presence of young Greek creators in the Festival’s programs. Furthermore, the collaboration with the CEO of the European Film Academy, Matthijs Wouter Knol, and the General Director of Producers, Jürgen Biesinger, focused on the connection of the European Film Awards with Greece in 2027, strengthening the international appeal of Greek cinema and its relationship with tourism.

Finally, the collaboration with the General Director of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, Elise Jalladeau, focused on the strategic development of the Festival and the strengthening of the presence of Greek cinema at an international level.
