Chania hosts an international conference on hazardous waste management

The Technical University of Crete is hosting in Chania, from 27 to 31 May 2025, the 8th International Conference on Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management – ​​CRETE 2025, with the participation of leading scientists, researchers, and industry representatives from around the world.

The conference, which will be held at the Minoa Palace Resort Hotel, is co-organized by prestigious international scientific bodies and is expected to be a reference point for global developments in the field of environmental management.

More than 200 scientific lectures will present the latest data and innovations from 38 countries, while a special place in the program is occupied by the two-day conference of Greek interest (May 29-30), dedicated to the challenges and specificities of waste management in Greece. The two-day conference will be held entirely in Greek, with the participation of executives from the country’s largest companies.

The conference’s topics range from the management of hospital, industrial, plastic, mining, and textile waste to issues related to climate change, waste management in natural disasters, and the reduction of environmental risks.

CRETE 2025 is a key platform for exchanging know-how and promoting cooperation between academia, industry, and public bodies, with the aim of promoting sustainable and innovative solutions for waste management.
