Musical Buildings: The first Epirus Music Village

From August 24 to 31, the Pogoni Buildings are planning to host a new cultural initiative, which aspires to be established as an institution. This is the first Epirus Music Village called “Music Buildings”, an event co-organized, among others, by the Region of Epirus and the International Center for Epirus Music.

The event is under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. K. Tasoulas, and is supported by municipalities in the region, which underlines its official and broader character.

The program includes a rich set of educational and artistic activities. Seventeen artists and teachers, originating from or specializing in six different regions of Epirus, will give lessons in instrumental playing, singing, both monophonic and polyphonic, while they will also teach traditional dances. The aim of the event is to introduce participants to the Epirus musical tradition through direct contact with its organizers.

At the same time, open events will be held every evening with the participation of distinguished artists. These evenings will be accessible to everyone, offering the public the opportunity to enjoy authentic Epirus sounds and dances in a natural environment, strengthening the element of shared experience and cultural exchange.

According to the Region of Epirus, this initiative is expected to bring multiple benefits. It will contribute substantially to the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the region, transferring the authentic music and dance tradition to the new generations, as well as to visitors from Greece and abroad. At the same time, it will strengthen the local economy, attracting visitors and artists, and promote cultural tourism in the Pogoni region.

Furthermore, the organization creates new educational and networking opportunities for young musicians and dancers, while the open evening events strengthen social cohesion. The Region estimates that the project will contribute to strengthening the image of Epirus as a vibrant center of culture and tradition, attracting even greater support and recognition at national and international level in the future.
