TIF: Concert for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis tonight at 21:30

Leading companies in their sectors, from telecommunications, new technologies and automotive to energy, metallurgy, retail and services, are participating in the 89th TIF, composing together with hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises the business mosaic of this year’s event.

Specifically, in addition to large groups, in the context of the “Greece and Entrepreneurship” section, a total of 44 Chambers are participating under the umbrella of the Central Union of Chambers of Greece with 351 businesses in pavilions 2 and 3, while separately the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce is participating with 51 of its member businesses in pavilion 8.

In parallel with entrepreneurship, the 89th TIF also places particular emphasis on culture. In this context, it honors the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis with a major tribute concert on the Music Events Live stage, at Toxo XANTH, at 9:30 p.m. The “Mikis Theodorakis” orchestra will perform the immortal songs of the great and internationally renowned composer with the voices of Dimitris Bassis, Rita Antonopoulou, Sofia Papazoglou and Angelos Theodorakis. Visitors can attend the concert for free with a ticket to the TIF.

However, the “meeting” with Mikis Theodorakis does not stop here. At pavilion 6, the public has the opportunity to learn about the life of the composer who was exiled during the junta in Zatouna, Gortynia, in 1968-69, about his struggles against the dictatorship, as well as about the great musical work he composed there, with the iconic mountains of Arcadia as a horizon. And all this through the historical documentary about him and Zatouna, as well as the screenings of the Digital Virtual Museum of Zatouna, the first digital Museum of Mikis Theodorakis in the country.

Also, the music competition for young talents Youth Band Battle-Stage Z continues in the outdoor area between pavilions 9 & 13, where the band Candyflip will take the stage tonight at 19:00, the band Multivision at 19:30, the band RiA and CO at 20:30 and the band Codasicks at 21:00.

One of the impressive participations in the 89th TIF is that of the Ministry of National Defense with the title “AGENDA 2030. Transition to the new era. Greece strong”. For the first time, the following are presented to the public: What is the “Aegean Dome” of multiple air defense and how will it be used through an impressive 3D visualization, a giant 3-meter-high UAV (drone), the country’s first kamikaze drone and the first UAV helicopter. Also, a pair of flight simulators, the “Modern Fighter”, operationally active vessels and vehicles and in time lapse the build up of the Belharra Frigate “Kimon”.

Visitors also have the opportunity to see incredible experiments, refractions and optical “miracles” at Planet Physics-Museum of Experiments at Pavilion 10, Stand 29.

As part of JuniorLand from 18:00 to 19:30 an incredible bubble show by “La Petite Marguerite” with bubbles in various parts of the Exhibition will captivate young and old. Also, from 19:00 to 20:00 in the outdoor area “TIF Gardens” the interactive performance “Back to School” will be performed on the occasion of the start of the new school year.

At 19:00, the Region of Western Greece awaits the public at stand 6 to take them on its culinary trails as part of the theme “Tastes of Greece”.

Today, the Thessaloniki Automobile Club held a press conference in preparation for the TIF RALLY, which will be held on 13 and 14 September, as part of the 89th TIF. As stated by the CEO of TIF-HELEXPO, Dr. Kyriakos Pozrikidis, the company has long supported the TIF RALLY, one of the country’s longest-running and most exciting races, which was born from the Exhibition and grew with it. This year, in its 57th edition, the TIF RALLY is dedicated to the memory of Tassos Kyrlangitsis, a car racing enthusiast.

Meanwhile, yesterday the Time Machine documentary “TIF.100 years from ground zero” moved the world, focusing on two pivotal years for the TIF, 1925, the year the exhibition organization was founded, and 1926, the year the 1st TIF was organized.

Yesterday at Music Events Live, Pyx Lax gave their rock rhythm to the 89th TIF, stirring up the world.

The opening hours of the 89th TIF are weekdays from 16:00 to 22:00.
