From September 26 to 28, the “Merkatia” festival is scheduled to take place in the Markato neighborhood of Patras, organized by AMKE PIVOT and with the support of the Region of Western Greece. This is an event that combines culture, artistic creation and social participation, with the aim of highlighting the unique identity of a historic neighborhood of the city.
It is noted that the Markato neighborhood is a historical gateway to Patras, where the old city meets the new. With traditional buildings, squares and narrow alleys that retain the charm of the past, Markato today hosts artistic and business activities that revitalize the area.
According to the organizers, the philosophy of the festival goes beyond simple entertainment. The focus is on activating residents and local businesses, with the aim of creating strong bonds and partnerships, as well as promoting the products, services and history of Markato. Through artistic activities, educational programs and cultural events, visitors have the opportunity to get to know the neighborhood not only as a place, but also as a vibrant community with historical depth and dynamic development.
Furthermore, the festival proposes a model for transforming a neighborhood into a modern, innovative community, enabling residents to co-shape its identity. Future events will be based on initiatives and proposals coming from the people of the neighborhood themselves and their businesses, ensuring a sustainable and authentic development of the institution.
The Region of Western Greece highlights the importance of the festival for the promotion of the history and culture of Patras, especially the Markato district, which connects the old with the new city. At the same time, the organization brings multiple benefits at an economic, social and cultural level, contributing to local development and the tourist promotion of the area.
The “Merkatia” Festival emerges as a dynamic annual institution that invites residents and visitors to become part of a community connected to its place and creation, transforming Markato into a destination that incorporates history, art and innovation in every corner.
