Voula Beach is preparing to host for another year one of the most recognized offshore swimming matches in Greece, the 12th Xterra Open Water Swimming Challenge, scheduled to take place from October 10th to October 12th at the First Plaz Voula, as part of Athines by the Sea. This event, which is held in collaboration with the Municipality of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni with Diaplous S.S.D.A. M. Ltd. has been established as an institution of international scope, attracting high -level athletes every year from Greece and abroad.
The Xterra Open Water Swimming Challenge started by Vouliagmeni, then moved to Varkiza and has been hosted for the last three years on Voula Beach, where it will continue this year for the fourth consecutive year. The steady presence of the race in the region has contributed decisively to the upgrading of the event, while also providing significant tourist, cultural and economic footprint.
This year’s schedule includes a variety of distances for adults: 0.2 km, 1 km, 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km, and special emphasis is placed on smaller participants, with elementary and high school competitions. In addition, during the event there will be a variety of athletic, cultural and recreational activities, which offer fun and participation to everyone, regardless of age and level.
The event is expected to have multiple benefits for the area, as it enhances the international promotion of Voula and the surrounding areas, attracting high -level visitors and athletes who contribute to the expansion of the tourist season beyond the traditional summer months. At the same time, the local economy benefits significantly, with the rise in demand in accommodation, catering and other businesses.
The 12th Xterra Open Water Swimming Challenge is expected to be a reference point for the area’s sports and tourist map this year, enhancing the promotion of Voula and projecting Greece as a destination for high -level open sea swimming.
