“Athenian Cats”: An artistic and animal-loving presence in the city

Today, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 19:00, Andie Art Gallery (Farantaton 17, Athens) opens the group exhibition “Athenian Cats”, curated by art historian Annita Patsouraki. Painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and objects inspired by the world of cats meet the spirit of giving: proceeds support “Dorotea’s Cats Rescue” by Dorothea Mercouri. This is a volunteer initiative focused on the rescue, care, neutering, and adoption of stray cats, founded by the actress.

The 34 participating artists—all animal lovers and caretakers of stray animals—express through their work the sense of fulfillment and selfless love that coexistence with pets brings, encouraging action to protect them.

Expect bold blends, creatively crafted wines with unconventional names, and the unpretentious philosophy of D’Arenberg. One night only, with fresh ingredients and attention to detail—true to every “Spin the Bottle” experience.

“Athens Rebetiko Festival”: A three-day event with rebetiko soul

The Athens Rebetiko Festival returns for its second year, from October 10–12, at the “Molyvi” cultural venue (Iera Odos 154, Aigaleo). A three-day celebration dedicated to rebetiko music and Greek musical tradition, featuring concerts, music showcases, screenings, talks, workshops, dance/music classes, and Karagiozis shadow puppet performances that illuminate the timelessness of rebetiko.

There will also be exhibitions of instrument making, gramophones, collectible instruments, and personal items of Apostolos Kaldaras, along with photo displays and a creative area for children.

The festival is open to everyone—from dedicated fans to those who discovered rebetiko via TikTok.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to SOS Children’s Villages and the Solidarity Fund of the Panhellenic Musicians’ Association.
Free entry for vulnerable groups.

“Tron: Ares”: A night out with a futuristic pulse

Fifteen years after Tron: Legacy, Disney returns with a new lead: Ares, a technologically advanced AI software that crosses into the real world with a mission to conquer humanity, bringing the “man vs. machine” conflict to the forefront.

Directed by Joachim Rønning (The Young Woman and the Sea), starring Jared Leto, Gillian Anderson, Greta Lee, and Jeff Bridges—who starred in the original Tron.

The experience is elevated by an original score from the one-and-only Nine Inch Nails.
If you’re into sci-fi with energy, neon aesthetics, and explosive action scenes, this is your movie date.
In theaters across Greece starting Thursday, October 9.
