In the heart of the Mediterranean, in Paphos, Cyprus, the 91st General Assembly of HOTREC – Hotels, Restaurants, Bars & Cafés in Europe took place, marking a new era for the European hospitality industry, which is facing profound changes and new prospects.
This year’s meeting brought together representatives of national associations from more than 36 countries, confirming HOTREC’s role as an institutional pillar of European tourism. The presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, gave prestige to the event and underlined the importance of cooperation and unity in the path towards a sustainable and competitive future for European hospitality.
Among the keynote speakers, the President of the Pancyprian Hoteliers Association, Thanos Michaelides, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, Costas Koumis, and the Deputy Director-General of DG MOVE of the European Commission, Maja Bakran, referred to the opportunities and challenges that hospitality businesses are called upon to face in a changing European and global environment.
At this point, it should be emphasized that collective action, the exchange of know-how and the safeguarding of the European way of life are now key pillars for growth, employment and social cohesion across Europe.
The meeting concluded with thanks to the Cyprus Hoteliers Association for their hospitality and to all HOTREC members and partners for their contribution to a shared vision of progress for hospitality in Europe.
