Cinema meets design: bright colors, reissue of El Deseo, Bubble in new shades and capsule by Rosy de Palma
Roche Bobois inaugurates today (18:00–21:30) its new showroom in Maroussi (217A Kifisias Ave.) and presents for the first time in Greece “Cromática”, the collaboration-bridge between design and cinema by Pedro Almodovar, with creative contribution from his muse Rosy de Palma.
The collection translates Almodóvar’s fiery, high-contrast universe into furniture, fabrics and objects with theatrical color scales: from bright reds to deep blues, as well as graphic patterns that refer to posters and scenes from films such as “Volver” and “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”.
At the “heart” of the series is the reissue of Hans Hopfer’s Lounge El Deseo sofa, a collectible statement piece, “dressed” with images selected by the director himself from his poster archive. Sacha Lakic’s iconic Bubble celebrates its tenth anniversary with four new shades inspired by the Spanish director’s palette, while the family is expanded to include armchairs and large compositions.
In the storage systems, the Rondo family is presented in special editions “Cromática” with thematic prints Ataque, Tacones, Mujeres, a clear nod to auteur cinema, typography and film symbols. The collection is completed with rugs such as Cromática Volver and series of cushions that borrow designs from the visual vocabulary of the great Spanish creator.
Rosi de Palma signs a bold, theatrical capsule, largely in black and white as a tribute to silent cinema: with the “fan” motif on rugs, lighting inspired by peineta and an elegant coiffeuse in the shape of an “eye”.
The partnership was solidified after Roche Bobois’s systematic presence on Almodóvar’s sets and this year’s launch at Milan Design Week 2025, where “Cromática” was among the most talked-about projects of the event.
Almodóvar was recently honored with the Golden Lion in Venice for the English-language “The Room Next Door” (with Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton), which further strengthened the conversation around his new aesthetic expansion in the design field.
