What to do this week (November 19-25)

What’s worth experiencing this week: From the Central Greece wine fair, the cosmopolitan portraits of Kimiko Yoshida, and theatre straight from London, to brunch at MooCasa, anniversary flavors at OX, and inner self-care destinations

Central Wine Fair 2025: a full wine journey in one day

If you love the wine of Central Greece – or want to get to know it better – save the date: Monday, 24 November 2025, at Aigli Zappeiou. The Central Wine Fair 2025 returns more dynamic than ever, in an emblematic venue in the heart of Athens, transforming one day into a concentrated experience of tastings, encounters and discoveries.

Sixty wineries from Attica, Thessaly and Central Greece meet with wine lovers and professionals, presenting hundreds of labels: from iconic wines already beloved, to fresh, forward-thinking winemaking approaches. It is not just a classic exhibition but a journey through indigenous and international varieties, spirits and terroirs that narrate the identity of each region.

This year, the fair is enriched with themed tasting tables: aged Savatiano wines from Attica, expressive Assyrtiko wines of Central Greece, the dynamic dimension of Limniona, and aged spirits from Thessaly. A parallel initiative that highlights the diversity, maturity and creative energy of the vineyard of Central Greece. (Aigli Zappeiou, Tickets: Presale: 9€ via more.com, Door: 12€ (student 9€))

MYTHOLOGIES – With the face of KIMIKO YOSHIDA

At Kourd Gallery, mythology steps out of the pages and stands before you with the face of Kimiko Yoshida. In her first solo exhibition in Greece, the internationally acclaimed Japanese artist transforms herself into Medusa, Athena, Hecate, Bacchus, the Minotaur, but also into figures such as Marie Antoinette or the Sun King, creating a personal, hybrid mythology – sometimes dark, sometimes ceremonial, always deeply symbolic. Against the backdrop of European portraiture and with a distinctly contemporary, performative gaze, Yoshida’s photographs and sculptures speak of identity, transformation, memory and female presence. If you love photography, the stories behind faces and art that brings Tokyo, Paris, Venice and Athens into the same frame, “Mythologies” is certainly an exhibition worth seeing. (Kourd Gallery, Kassianis 2 & Fanariotón, Athens, Until 17 January 2026, Hours: Tue–Fri 12:00–20:00, Sat 11:00–15:00)

A Sunday outing… with fire and smoke

If you are looking for a reason for a different gastronomic outing, keep this one: on Sunday, 23 November, OX Athens celebrates its second anniversary and sets up an outdoor festive experience together with Nomade et Sauvage. The restaurant’s outdoor space transforms into a setting reminiscent of old outdoor gatherings, with fire pits and live cooking, where fresh, local ingredients turn into authentic dishes of the moment. It is one of those events that combine atmosphere, fire and good cuisine: the urban aesthetic of OX meets the nomadic philosophy of Nomade et Sauvage in an all-day event worth experiencing – ideal for foodies, friends or couples seeking something a little different from the classic Sunday table. “Till the Stars Go Out”: When a wedding changes everything

If you want a performance that will move you, make you laugh and make you think, add “Till the Stars Go Out” at Chora Theatre to your list, starting 24 October. The latest play by the award-winning Beth Steel, which triumphed at the National Theatre and the West End, is staged for the first time in Greece, directed by Vangelis Theodoropoulos. A working-class family in England comes together for a wedding that becomes the catalyst for old wounds, secrets and unspoken truths to surface. Set against the backdrop of the miners’ strikes, the play speaks about love, loss, racism and resilience, balancing masterfully between humor and realism. An ideal outing for those who love contemporary, deeply human theatre. Cast: Haris Grigoropoulos, Anna Kalaitzidou, Maria Katsiadaki, Syrmo Keke, Iakinthi Konstantopoulou, David Maltese, Manto Michaliou, Elina Rizou, Christos Stylianou, Kostas Flokatoulas. (Chora Theatre, Amorgou 20, Kypseli, Wednesdays 20:00, Thu–Fri 21:00, Sat 18:30 & 21:15, Sun 18:00)

Brunch with an Egg Experience and lobster

If Sunday means good food and a little extra indulgence for you, then brunch at MooCasa in Neo Iraklio deserves a place in your weekly plans. From 11:00 to 19:00, the kitchen serves one of the most generous brunch menus in the city, centered around the egg. Authentic benedict with smoked salmon on a crispy waffle, fluffy omelettes, panko eggs with crispy Wagyu bacon. Then, the menu shifts to richer flavors: lobster rolls, burgers, lobster mac and cheese, Fine de Claire oysters, in a menu that balances beautifully between land and sea. Naturally, the signature Steak and Lobster is part of the experience: selected beef cuts served with lobster, on platters for 2 or 4 people, with the kitchen’s obsession over grilling details evident.

For dessert, waffle with banana and ice cream, caramelized tsoureki – and the classic desserts of the menu such as the famous tiramisu and the signature cheesecake. Ideal for those who want to enjoy their Sunday with an abundant brunch. (Marinou Antypa 62–66, Neo Iraklio, Brunch: Every Sunday 11:00–19:00, tel.: 210 2750006)
