Deal for Ronaldo's transfer to Juventus sealed in Kalamata, Greece

Portuguese soccer virtuoso Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have signed with Juventus after club president Andrea Agnelli traveled to Greece on Tuesday to meet with him.

Agnelli’s private plane landed at Kalamata airport and from there he was whisked to luxury resort Costa Navarino were the Real Madrid scorer is holidaying after Portugal’s elimination from the World Cup in Russia, to convince him to sign the transfer.

The four-year contract is expected to be announced within the coming hours.

AP reports from Turin that Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Real Madrid to join Italian club Juventus, bringing to an end a hugely successful nine-year spell in Spain.

Soon after Portugal was knocked out from the World Cup, Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, along with the football star’s son and the couple’s daughter, arrived at Kalamata Airport in the Peloponnese, Greece in a private jet and then boarded a helicopter that flew them straight to Pylos, a coastal resort in Messinia, to enjoy some quality rest and relaxation.

While Ronaldo was in Kalamata, Madrid said Tuesday it has reached a deal with Juventus after a request by Ronaldo. No financial details were disclosed but Italian media reports Juventus is paying Madrid 105 million euros ($123 million) for the 33-year-old forward.

AP also confirmed that Ronaldo is currently on vacation in Greece following Portugal’s elimination from the World Cup and that Juventus president Andrea Agnelli flew out Tuesday to meet the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
