Embraer announced the signing of a $7 billion agreement with the American company Flexjet for the supply of 182 business/private jets.
This agreement represents the highest order ever for both the Brazilian manufacturer and the American company, whose strategic partnership dates back to 2003. The announcement by Embraer of an order for 133 commercial aircraft from American Airlines, an agreement worth more than $7 billion, had a similar impact on the market in March 2024.
In the commercial aircraft sector, in the period following the pandemic, the Brazilian company benefited from demand for smaller aircraft that typically record high occupancy. According to related announcements, in 2024 Embraer delivered 73 commercial aircraft (14% increase year-on-year) and 130 business/private aircraft (13% increase year-on-year). Despite the challenges, it performed better than Boeing and Airbus, which operate larger aircraft, with high-demand technologies and more frequent maintenance needs, especially for newer models.
As a result, the aviation industry in general has been faced with significant shortages of fully functional engines, resulting in the grounding of a significant number of aircraft worldwide. In contrast, Embraer’s smaller aircraft with lower drag, and consequently fuel and power consumption, have longer maintenance intervals.
The Brazilian manufacturer is proceeding with the implementation of its development strategy based on outstanding contracts worth around $1 billion. recently announced an investment plan of $3.5 billion by 2030, while in 2026 the company’s management estimates that up to 100 aircraft will be delivered. This development-investment program was also presented at an event attended by President Lula, which, in addition to the aviation sector, also includes the development of vertical take-off and landing vehicles by the subsidiary Eve.
