The Municipality of Corinth and the Ministry of Environment are proceeding with the creation of a national network of trails and hiking routes in Corinth, concluding a relevant programmatic agreement for this purpose.
Specifically, the action aims to redevelop existing trails in the municipality of Corinth, with the aim of creating safe, friendly and functional trails, so that they become a pole of attraction and use for visitors and residents of the area.
Which are the 14 trails of Corinth
1. Athikia – Agios Ioannis: The route is 7.8 kilometers of moderate difficulty, which guides us through the mountainous hinterland, the living conditions of the time, and the gastronomy of the area.
2. Agios Ioannis-Reito-Almyri: The route is a 12.8 km path of moderate difficulty, and of special interest. The route starts approximately 4 km west of the village of Agios Ioannis, from the Fortress of Choriza.
3. Siderona – Katakali – Sofiko: The route is an 8.6 km path, which starts from the small port of Siderona with the homonymous green island opposite that one can also go swimming. The hiking path starts uphill in a pine forest and soon reaches Katakali.
4. Katakali – Frangolimano: The route is a 9.3 km path of moderate difficulty, very beautiful. It starts through the village of Katakali and crosses the pine forest of Botiza, ending at the natural and beautiful bay of Frangolimanos.
5. Loutra – Analipsi: The route is a 12.2-kilometer path of moderate difficulty and special interest, on a section of the Ancient Mycenaean Road to the Ancient Port of Kechria. It starts from the Spring of Beautiful Helen, the Recognized Natural Thermal Spring, and ends at Analipsi.
6. Ancient Port of Kechria – Ancient Corinth: The route is a 19.8-kilometer path of moderate difficulty. It is of special interest as it is a hiking journey through history.
7. Ancient Port of Kechria – Baths of Saint Helen – Mycenae: This is an impressive hiking route of special interest, which has an area of ??46.20 kilometers. On the 3500-year-old path, the visitor has the opportunity to cross parts of World History.
8. Angelokastro – Sofiko: The gentle route of 7.8 kilometers starts from the Byzantine Castle of Angelokastro and ends in the village of Sofiko, through a dense pine forest.
9. Pre-hiking route: This is a route of moderate difficulty, which mainly crosses a pine forest. During the route, Monasteries and Churches of the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Periods are encountered. The route starts from the Faneromeni Monastery on a path southwest through a pine forest. The 6.6-kilometer course leads the visitor to the Old Monastery of Faneromeni. From the Old Monastery the route heads towards Agionori and then towards Stefani.
Cycling routes
10. Dervenakia – Agios Vasileios – Stefani: The 11.7 km cycling route is of moderate difficulty and starts from the Statue of Theodoros Kolokotronis in Dervenakia. Among other things, visitors will see the Castle of Agios Vasileios and the incomparable natural beauty of Stefani.
11. Ascension – Ancient Corinth: The cycling route starts from the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, continues through a rich pine forest, passes through olive groves and points of interest such as the Church of Constantine and Helen, and reaches Ancient Corinth with the Temple of Apollo within the grounds of the Museum of Ancient Corinth, the Gulf of Corinth, the Ancient Port of Lechaio, the Odeon and the Theater. The route ends at the picturesque Square of Ancient Corinth.
12. Kechries – Analipsi: The cycling route starts from Kechries and, passing through Examilia, reaches the church of Analipsi a few kilometers outside the village.
13. Mycenae-Kechries Baths: The Mycenaean Path is a 25-year-old marked path, 52 kilometers long, that connects the baths of Orea Helen with the palace of Mycenae.
14. Sofiko Cycling Routes: Sofiko includes two routes.
The length of the first route is 16.6 km, and it passes almost entirely through agro-forest roads, except for a small section that passes through the settlement of Sofiko. The route starts from the I.N. Agia Triada in the center of the settlement and heads southeast towards the football field where it bends south and enters an agro-forestry road towards the location “Larisi” and passes by the temple of Taxiarches (Byzantine monument), continuing south after an easy climb it reaches the location “Xesti”. It continues west and reaches the location “Ano Avlona” and then north through the fields of Avlona it ends at Sofiko.
The length of the second route is 31.4 kilometers and passes almost entirely through agro-forestry roads, except for a small section that passes through the settlement of Sofiko.
The route starts from the I.N. Agia Triada in the center of the settlement and heads east towards the Isthmus – Epidaurus National Road which it crosses perpendicularly to the building materials yard D. Gezerli and continues east towards the locations “Vathi”, “Lakka Skoutara” and “Lakka Gliata” where it bends north towards the location “Malia Tourkou” and then westwards passes near the I. M. Agia Marina and bends northeast towards the location “Zaraka” and the foothills of Mount Tourla, moves west through the vineyards of Vias, reaches the Church of Agios Tryphon where it bends south towards Magoula, ends again at the Isthmus – Epidaurus National Road which crosses it at the Kleta gas station, continues west towards the foothills of Mount Tzalika, bends north following a circular route around Tzalika to end up on the Rytos – Sofikou provincial road at the location Piouza next to the Forestry Department water tank and ends again at the settlement of Sofikou.
