Region of Crete promotes cooperation with expats

The Region of Crete is building communication bridges to Cretans of the Diaspora in an effort to strengthen the global identification of the largest Greek island and promote its culture, tourism, and traditional products in international markets. In this effort, an Office of Cretans Expatriates has been established within the Regional Government’s offices and has been cooperation closely with the Cretan World Council. 

Furthermore, the Regional Governor Stavros Arnaoutakis recently held consecutive meetings with leaders of expatriate Cretans in order to further bolster relations and cooperation within the various organizations of the Diaspora. 

Expat leaders

These included the President of the Cretan World Council Manolis Velivasakis, His Grace Bishop of the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church Mr. Makarios, the President of the Pancretan Association of America Takis Psarrakis, the President of European Cretans Federation Yiannis Epitropakis, the New York cretan expats community member George Angelakis, the representative of the Canadian Diaspora and Vice President of the Montreal Cretans Association Michalis Christodoulakis, the President of the Munich Cretans Association Manolis Kougioumtzis, the representative of World Cretans Council in Greece Maria Chnaraki and the representative of the Pancretan Association of America in Greece Amalia Kalogridaki.

The Regional Governor congratulated the representatives of the Diaspora for the important work they do, describing them as the best ambassadors of Crete around the world. “The Region is and will be on the side of the World Council of Cretans and Greeks all over the globe,” Mr. Arnaoutakis concluded emphatically.
